MESSAGES FROM THE KING

RUGBY, January 19. The Aden centennial celebrations reached their climax to-day. which marked the hundredth anniversary of the hoisting of the British flag, when the Governor (Sir Bernard Reilly), at a centennial parade, read congratula tory messages from the King and the Secretary for the Colonies (Mi' Malcolm MacDonald). The King’s message said: “The history of Aden is bound up with the seafaring traditions of which the British Empire is so justly proud. Though one of the youngest colonies, Aden for many years past has formed an essential link in the maritime communications of the Empire and to-day her people are celebrating a centennial of loyal and devoted service to the British Crown. 1 look forward with confidence not only to the maintenance of past traditions but also to the continued development of the colony and increasing prosperity for its inhabitants.”
