Described by counsel as the victim of her own good fortune, in that, she consumed some liquor titter milking :i profitable investment al the Trim 1 ham races, Tui Amelia Scully, 31. clerk, was dealt with for intoxication when in charge of a ca r. A plea, which had more effect with (he Magistrate, however, was counsel's pointing out that she had no lunch, ami the liquor she look did not imimdiately affect her. as was shown by the fact tiiat. she manoeuvred the car from the members’ stand at Trantham, not an easy feat, the liquor apparently having delayed action, as she did not ’cl it. till on the Hutt road on the way lo Wellington. The Magistrate decided that, a fine would meet, the case, ami imposed £!<’, and delicensed her for twelve months. The prosecution followed inlo’mmtion given to the police by a motorist who witnessed the manner in which the ear was being driven when nearing Wellington.
