MINERS’ STRIKE. SYDNEY, September 28

An unexpected development in the coal strike, to-night, is affording bright hopes of a settlement. Representatives of the Miners’ Federation and other unions requested the Minister of Labour (Mr. Marr) to convene a conference of the parties in dispute, in the hope of effecting a settlement. The Minister promptly agreed that the conference will be held at his office, next Tuesday.
