BLOMFIELD AND MEEHAN The meeting of»“Lofty” Blomfield, and 1 Pat Meehan at Wellington on Monday night has added -to the interest in their return engagement at Greymouth on Saturday. At Wellington, the two men, who have played outstanding parts in the l season’s operations, produced all. the high-class wrestling that was expected of them, but, in addition, the exchanges between them had several intriguing features. The most impressive of these, to many of the spectators, was the effort made by Meehan. So well did he perform, in fact, that many expected Blomfield to go down in defeat and it was only through an accident that the New Zealand chain pion managed to take the deciding fall. He pulled himself to his feet after Meehan had succeeded in seeming in the last round the figure-four body scissors with which he had levelled the falls in the previous round In the last round, Meehan, by clever ringcraft, regained the hold, but Blomfiekl, with the assistance, of the ropes, raised himself to his feet and then fell over backwards, the resultant strain on the Canadian’s legs being so great that he could not continue. Blomfield took, the first fall by means of a new arm strangle hold, on which he has been working for some time and which he has got into perfect working order. It won a quick submission fall from Meehan, and there is no doubt 1 that it will prove a valuable asset to him.
