Endorsement of the principle of asking the Government to organise the sale and distribution of fruit in co-operation, with represenatives of the growers was given almost unanimously by- a meeting of 150 Hawke’s Bay fruitgrowers held on Saturdaynight.
It v.-as recalled that at the combined fruitgrowers’ conference in Wellington in August it had been decided by practically unanimous vote to ask the Government to co-operate with growers in organising the sale and distribution of pip fruit, and for a guarantee for such fruit.
The text of the resolution carried on Saturday night involved the same principle but, in addition, made it clear that organisation was sought for all fruit, both local and export. It also included a request for an advance for local fruit as is done for export fruit.
