N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS. [FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] HAMILTON, September 4. Continuing the splendid'form he had shown throughout the week, P. Hawksworth (Wairarapa). the holder of the New Zealand badminton men’s singles, doubles, and mixed doubles titles, retained all trophies when the championship tournament ended at the Bledisloe Hall on Saturday night. The women’s singles title-holder. Miss M. Kerr (Dunedin) was beaten by Miss N. Fleming (Wellington). The holder did not retain her excellent form of tlie week, although Miss Fleming played very fine badminton. In the men’s singles, the finalist was R. Lewis, the Auckland and Waikato champion, but he was never in the lead, and Hawksworth smashed his way to victory. In the second set. Lewis was in better form, but he was no match for the (•hampion. The women’s singles saw Miss Kerr struggling hard all the time against the great control of Miss Fleming, and the standard here was brilliant at times. In the men’s doubles, Hawksworth and G. Pearce (Wellington), the holders, defeated R. fjull and I. Ellett in straight sets, having the lead throughout. Their combination was perfect. This aspect of the play of Hawksworth and Mrs. Hawksworth carried them through in the final of the mixed doubles, although this was a very exciting three-set final, with G. Pearce and Miss Kerr as the champions’ opponents. Tn the women’s doubles, Mrs. Hawksworth and Miss Kerr, the holders, defeated Mrs. Wren (Auckland) and Miss Edmondson (Waikato) in straight sets in a match in which there was some bright, badminton. Results: — Men’s Singles: P. Hawksworth (Wairarapa) defeated R. Lewis (Waikato), 15-10. 15-10. Women’!! Singles: Miss N. Fleming (Wellington) defeated Miss M. Kerr (Dunedin), 11-6. 11-7. Men’s Doubles: P. ’Hawksworth and G. Pearce (Wellington) defeated IL Hull and I. Ellett (Auckland). 15-7. 15-7.
Women’s Doubles; Mrs. P. HawKsworth and Miss Kerr defeated Mrs. C. Wren (Auckland) and Miss M. Edmondson (Waikato), 15-6, 15-5. Mixed Doubles: P. Hawksworth and Mrti. Hawksworth defeated Pearce

Wade (Auckland'. 18-13, 15-1: Mrs. C. F. Wren (Auckland) and Miss M. Edmondson (Hamilson) defeated Misses N. Fleming and F. Fennie (Wellington). 15-9. 15-11. Mixed Doubles—Semi-finals: P. Hawksworth and Mrs. Hawksworth defeated A. Dempster and Miss .1. (’lough, 15-8, 15-1; G. A. Pearce and Miss M. Kerr defeated R. Lewis and Miss M. Edmondson, 15-4. 12-15, 1-5-6. A challenge for the Wisden Cup. the emblem of badminton supremacy in New Zealand, was successfully staved off by the holders, Auckland, in a match with Western Districts (Wanganui). Auckland established a lead of nine matches to four, and defaulted the remaining games in order to save the players for the Dominion championships at night.
