HELIUM IN BRAZIL

DIRECTOR'S CLAIM. (BY CABLE —riCESS AHSN.—COPYBIGHT.] NEW YORK, July 17. The Rio de Janeiro correspondent of the “New York Times” says helium, gas has been found in Sao Jaulo Province, according to a statement by Dr. Basto Alves, director of the Brazilian Geographic and Geologic Department. A German scientist has been investigating the helium sources in Brazil. The discovery is particularly significant in view of the refusal of the United States to export helium to Germany, and the frequent charges made by United States Congressmen and statesmen that the European dictatorships are dangerously active in penetrating South America by means of propaganda.
