EVEREST CLIMB
ANNUAL ATTEMPTS ADVOCATED. [BY 'CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Received July .4, 2.15 p.m.) LONDON, July 3. A “Times” copyright ’ message states: A yearly expedition to Everest is wanted, writes Mr. Tilman, from Rongbuk Base Camp. Summing up the results, he points out that there whs. seepiingly no lull in 1938 between the Winter winds and, the first'heavy snowfall, owing to early monsoon, while last;? year, we jrers tolds-that- the .situation was; exceptXojially favourable. Moreover, we sawin 1935 the mountain was climbable to the end of June. Now, that we know that a small expedition can do what is necessary, such succession attempts become a possibility. I believe that probably a smaller party than the present should come out every May. A favourable season will occur sooner or later. We ha ve mountaineers capable of taking advantage of it.
