CITY COUNCIL’S INCREASE. (PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN. Juno 21. The City Council. last evening; adopted, proposals involving the levying of a. general rate of 2/5 and a hospital rate of Bd, being air increase of 4d and Id respectively on last year’s level. The expenditure had been mainly caused' by substantial in'ereasess in the working •staff and overhead charges) for many works, undertaken to absorb labour. Financing had 1 been accomplislied by diversion from the renewal funds, which, since 1935. had fallen bv £118,479.
