June 9At Tuesday's meeting of the N|w Zealand Golf Council, a sub-commit-tee set up in connection with the Centennial tournament, submitted a lengthy report, a copy of which it was decided to send to the advisory committees in the various centres, for their viewsTimaru is to be given another opportunity to hold the South Island close amateur tournament, but if it does not wish to hold it, an offer from the Harewood Club, Christchurch, will be accepted. The Manawatu Chib furnished a report, indicating in its opinion, that the North Island close amateur tournament had been definitely a success. The following standard scratch scores were alloteed: Orini 73, Rangitikei 72. Taieri 68, Tauhoa 71, Scargill 66, Makirikiri 74, Putorino 68, Chisholm Park 67, Maraenui 74, Waikohu 72, Korakonui 66, Ohai 72. Taita 72.
