YAN KEE TO LI RN AM ENT Twenty-six teams have entered for the annual Yankee tournament to be held on Monday. The winning team in the A Grade holds the Tennent Cup, and the winning team in the B Grade the Gardner Cup. The tournament will commence at 10 a.m., with B, grade games at Columba Courts and schools’ grade at the Convent. The A. grade games will commence at 1.15 p.m. In the afternoon, when all games will be played at the Recreation Ground, B. grade matches will resume at 1 p.m., and the first A. grade games will be played at 1.15 p.m. At 2 p.m., all the teams will take part in a marching display, the music for which will be supplied by the Municipal Band. Should the courts at the Recreation Ground be unfit for play, afternoon games will be played at Columba courts. Any team not ready to play when required, will lose by default.

The newly-formed American Basketball Association met last evening. It was decided to call nominations for both men's and women's competitions. It. was resolved that the captain of each team bo a delegate to the Association. Messrs. AV. Pringle, L. Bedroll i and AV. O’Leary were appointed referees. Nominations of Woolworths’, Public AVorks, Dispatch Foundry, and Westland Breweries teams were received. Tech. Old Girls’ teams to play on Monday: A. team: C. McAra, D. Richardson, E. Henderson, B.
