ANGLO-U.S.A. TRADE TREATY
SERIOUS CHECK DENIED [BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.] RUGBY, May 31. Mr. Oliver Stanley (President of the Board of Trade) told the House of Commons at question time that he was unable to give any indication when the trade negotiations with America were likely to be concluded. He added that there had been no serious hitch in the negotiations, but he could not undertake to make a statement before the Summer adjournment. Any discussions on trade matters between two such important commercial countries, Mr. Stanley reminded the House, must raise complicated and difficult problems, and the negotiations must necessarily be long. PURCHASE OF PLANES LONDON, June 1. The “Daily Herald” says the British air experts, who have returned from their investigation in the United States, advise the Air Ministry to buy American aeroplanes. It is considered almost certain that- Britain will purchase 300 training aeroplanes and bombers. Two American aircraft makers have arrived in London to discuss contracts.
