DUCAL MAGICIAN

CAN PALM FOUR. BILLIARD BALLS LONDON, April 30. The 17th Duke of Somerset, holder of the second oldest title of its, kind in tho country, is also an expert conjuror. He demonstrated his skill before an audience of magicians this week in London, at the annual meeting of the Magis Circle. Perhaps the most spectacular trick for which he is renowned is the burning of a .C 5 note end restoring it undamaged. But on this occasion ho had to content himself with manipulative tricks. In the few minutes at his disposal the Duke produced a half-crown out of a. friend’s ear; spirited the stopper out of a bottle of whisky, and performed marvels with a pack of playing cards. “I wish I could show you my trick with the four billiard balls,” the Duke said. “It is one of my favourites. After half a lifetime of practice I can palm four.”
