DUNEDIN SESSIONS. I [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, May 2. The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court commenced this morning. before Mr. Justice Kennedy. The Grand Jury round true bills in all four trial cases. The first, case being heard is against Leonard Chalmers Young, who faces six. charges of theft, arising from the sale of bonds of the Metropolitan Theatre Company, the property of Eva Weddell and Lumsden Kent Ball. Accused pleaded not guilty. The Crown Prosecutor produced a statement, of bank withdrawals, in the name of the Metropolitan Theatre Company, of 45 cheques, dealing with money belonging to Mrs. Weddell, and Ball claiming that accused was acting for the Company, which handled their debentures, and so had committed theft. (Proceeding). PRISONERS SENTENCED WELLINGTON, May 2. Prisoners were sentenced at the Supreme Court as follow: — George Lassells Amies. 17. three charges of breaking, entering and theft, two years at Borstal. Leslie George Jacobs. 33. obscene exposure, three charges, six months’ gaol on each charge, to be concurrent, with the longer term he is at present serving.
