POLO TOURNAMENT
NEW ZEALAND TEAM’S WIN. [BY CABLE—PRESS ASSN.—COPYEIGHT.] SYDNEY, April 24. Giving a superb exhibition, the New Zealand polo team won the Australian and New Zealand Gold Cup, at the polo tournament yesterday, beatingtile New South Wales Town and Country Whites in the final by 9 goals to 4. The victory was decisive and was due primarily to the speed and handiness of the New Zealand ponies, which easily out-paced those of the Australians. The New Zealanders took command of the game from the start, and went into the lead by 2 goals to 0. Aftei this it was just a question of by how much they could win. Though the home men played cleverly, they could not live with the puce of the opposition. K. Peake was easily the outstanding player on the liekl and though he received line support, lie was really responsible for the win. His display equalled anything ever seen in Australia. Mackenzie gave his customary sound display, while G. Peake was at the top of his foim, and secured two brilliant goals. Nolan was not so prominent as in past matches, and in the last few strides his pony broke a fetlock. G. and A. Ashton were the best of the opposing team, which had many chances but lacked accuracy. . . The crowd was most enthusiastic at *he finish, invading the ground and .’hculdering K. Peuke.
