An Irishman, who was assisting at s the erection of a large brick building • as hod-carrier, fell from the top of ■ the ladder, and striking the ground , with full weight, was apparently killed. The landlord came running to the spot, and as the man opened his eyes, again, just as he got there, he asked, “Did the fall hurt you, Pat?” “Well, no,” replied the inju'red man. “It warn’t the fall, sir; it was the stop, sir!”
