Ten private placements were made by tho Greymouth. Office of the State Placement Service, this week, seven of which were, in permanent positions. Five men were also placed -with state Departments, four permanent and one temporarily. A demand existed during the week for certificated enginedrivers, two being placed.
Although his condition is no longer serious, one of the two boys who were injured by the explosion of chemicals which caused the death of a third boy at 90 Victoria avenue, Remuera, on Sunday, April 10, was still in the Auckland Hospital on Wednesday, suffering from lacerations to the chest. This boy is Arthur Jack Prosser, aged 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Prosser, of 11 Orakei road Remuera. The other boy, who was less seriously injured, Francis Harrison-Smith, aged 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison-Smith, of 85 Victoria avenue, Remuera, has bee* discharged from hospital.
