[our own correspondent.] An enjoyable gift evening was spent at Mrs. Campbell’s residence, last evening, in honour of Miss Mary Pollock’s approaching marriage to Mr. J. Oakley. The hostesses were Mesdames Campbell, Dinsdale and Williamson, aunts of Mr. Oakley. Many suitable presents were given to Miss Pollock on whose behalf Mrs. R. Pollock replied. Mesdames Hanibley, Wright, Hewison and Reynolds paid tributes to the guest of honour, and the intended groom. The evening passed l in singing and games. The winners of the different competitions were Mesdames Swan, Rutherford, Kyle, Richmond, Reynolds, Higson, Lee, Pinn, Hann and Higson (senr).
