'Phe House of Commons unanimously agreed that the paper “Daily Worker” had been guilty of a gross libel and a breach of privilege in suggesting that the Speaker of the House was guilty of partiality when it, alleged that the Speaker barred the raising of the question of Spain in a debate ou the adjournment of the House. A. . STUDENTS’ STRIKE CENTREPOINT (Iowa), July 14. Eighty-eight, students are conducting a “stay-in” strike in the High School here, demanding the reinstatement of a dismissed principal. BRITISH LABOUR PARTY. LONDON, April 14. The Executive of the Labour Party have rejected suggestions of a “Popular Front” alliance with other parties. The Executive points out that in recent weeks, strenuous efforts have been made to reverse the Labour Party’s decision against any association’with either any “United Front” or a “Popular Front” movement. The Executive urges that the members should withhold their support “from movements which are bound to weaken the Party’s organisation and electoral power.”
U.S.A. PLANES FOR R.A.F. WASHINGTON. April 13. American Army, officials expressed the opinion that the American air factories could manufacture considerable quantities of aeroplanes for Britain, savs the Washington correspondent of the “New York Times.” Though not at their full capacity at present U.S.A, factories could make a quick delivery of as many as 10,000 planes. EIRE ELECTIONS DUBLIN, April 15. The Eire Presidential election is fixed for May 31. The President will take office at the end of June.
