The competitions at the Sydney Roy-i al Show for junior farmers, embrac-. ing live from New Zealand, compris-| ed largely the judging of livestock and i cereals. lan Gilmour, one of the four' British boys, was conspicuously successful. He was placed in three class-. es in which there was strong inter- j Dominion rivalry. The runner-up to Gilmour in the judging of a Jersey cow was A. Fisher, of the Carterton Club, New Zealand. A. Cowman, of the Apiti Young Farmers’ Club, New Zealand, was third in judging a Berkshire pig. Sir Samuel Hordern, president of the Society, welcomed the boys, and emphasised the value of their recipro-. cal visits. I The New Zealand federation of Young Farmers’ Club has requested a visit by Australian junior farmers to the New Zealand Centenary celebrations in 1940, and every effort is being made to accept the invitation. Among the visitors to the Show is a party of New Zealand touring farmers, headed by Mr. D. S. Max, of Nelson, who, with his colleagues, is greatly impressed with the magnitude and educational value of the whole exhibition.
