MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEET

The Management Committee.' of the West Coast Cricket Association met last, evening, there being present: Messrs J. Stokes (Chairman), J. Mathews, B. Rathbun, L. Coffey, J. Guy, J. Paterson, G. Howes, P. Allen (Secretary). and Rev. Brother Eugene.

Accounts amounting to 15/6 were passed for payment. The Chairman welcomed Rev. Brother Eugene as representative of the Marist School. After discussion on School Cricket, it was decided that the competition be left, to the teachers, as, was the case last year (in the early part of this season).

The transfer of M. Jones- from the United Club to the Cobden Club was granted. ft was decided to thank the Inangahua Sub-Association for the hospitality extended the Greymouth team which played at Reefton last Sunday week; also Mr D. R. Dowell for his kindness and attention to the Ashburton team, and his donation of gold tie-pins for the highest scorer on each side in the Ashburton-W f est Coast match.

It was resolved that the junior competition be closed, and that a new competition for the juniors commence on Saturday next.

It was decided to ask. the Southern Sub-Association to suggest a suitable date for a match between Greymouth and. Westland at Hokitika, two weeks’ notice to be given. It was decided to ask clubs to hand score books to the Fixtures Committee by February 2:1. S. AUSTRALIA WINS. MELBOURNE, February 8. In the final Sheffield Shield match, South Australia to-day defeated Victoria by 125 runs, but the Shield has already been won by New South Wales.

Victoria, in the second innings, scored 177 (Pearson 36, and Barnett 41). In the bowling, Williams took 5 wickets for 52 runs, and Waite 3 for 28.
