BRUNNER NOTES

[OUE OWN CORRESPONDENT,] Mr. and Mrs. Paul Robson and Miss Jean Robson will leave to-morrow, en route for England, where they will reside.

Mr. and Mrs. C. Senior. Taylorville, have left on a motor tour of the South Island.

At a meeting of the Brunner Miners’ combined schools picnic committee, it. was decided, owing to no Saturday being available until late in March, that the picnic will be held on Sunday, February 13 at Hokitika. The same time-table as for the postponed picnic will operate. Mr, and Mrs. P. Robson were tendered a farewell evening and presentation in the Salvation Army Hall. Taylorville, on Monday, a large crowd 'attending. The Brunner concert party contributed items, Miss Watson being the accompanist. The following was the programme: Overture, Miss Watson. Song, Miss Bateman. Violin solo, Miss McNeish. Duet, Misses Rena and Eleanor Bell. Song, Mr. T. Murphy. Items by the stringed orchestra, comprising Misses Watson (2), B. Rodgers, B. Bateman, R. McNeish. Messrs R. Meyers and J. McNeish. Duet: Captain Stone and Lieutenant Barsby. Song, Mr. J. Myers. Piano accordeon selections, Mr. N. McNabb. Song. Mr. J. Jackson. Duet, Misses B. Rateman

and U. Fentiman. Song, Lieutenant Barsby, every item being encored. Mr. R. Fordham oiubehalf of the citizens of Brunner, made eulogistic references of the departing guests. He expressed regret at their departure and wished them every success and happiness in the future. In asking Mr. Robson to accept a useful gift from the . citizens in appreciation of the high esteem in which they are held, he hoped they would have a pleasant journey home. Mr. W. Purdy endorsed the previous speaker’s remarks. Mr. and Mrs. Robson briefly replied and thanked one and all for the beautiful present and the pleasant evening. A*, dainty supper was served, after which all joined hands and sang “Auld Lang Syne.’’ j
