WARDERS AT WEDDING
FRENCH CONVICT MARRIES
PARIS, January 5
Preceded by two small boys carrying huge bouquets of roses —and followed by two warders —a smiling young couple were married in a, suburb of Fresnes. The man wore a well-cut blue suit and the woman a smart black y,elvet frock. fi’lie bridegroom’s present home is the Fresnes Central Prison, where he is serving a five-year sentence. He is Henri Michon, and was the driver of a postal van from which a bag containing £21,000 in Bank of France notes disappeared. He was tried for theft and was acquitted, but his luck did not stay with b.iin, for as he was driving his fiancee. Yvonne Faria, a year ago in a magnificent car, he ran over and killed a woman.
In his pocket the police found a receipt for £3500, deposited in a
Belgian bank, and re-arrested him. ; After his marriage, Michon invited the warders to visit a cafe and celebrate. They insisted, however, on j taking him back to prison, but gave] him time to smoke a cigar before the gates closed on him.
