Mistakes described as “rather startling,” and “not good enough to inspire confidence in them as potential leaders of men,” are mentioned in the War Office report on the cadets’ examination. The spelling of some Avas deplorable, and the handwriting Avas indecipherable. The examiners reported a poor standard of geographical knoAvledge. For instance, Ceylon had an adventurous time. It Avas A’ariously described as being in the Mediterranean, the West Indies, off the coast of Africa, and off the coast of Australia.
NAZI CADETS. (P.ecd. December 29, 2 p.m.) LONDON, December 28. The “Telegraph’s” Berlin correspondent states that Germany has instructed her Minister at Berne to protest to the Swiss Govcinment. against Swiss newspaper reports that, during his visit to the new Nazi training centre at Sonthofen, Bavaria, Hitler personally tore off the shouldersi raps of 30 Nazi cadets, and ordered their removal Io a concentration camp, for misconduct. including drinking, molesting girls and women, and firing pistols at crucifixes and sacred picturesThe German Government denies the reports.
