BUDGE CRITICISED. [by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] SYDNEY, December 28. Mr Henry Marsh, general secretary of the New South Wales Lawn Tennis Association, writing to the “Sun,” says: “Not one of the 10,000 people who saw Budge in action yesterday ever wants to see him play again. I owe the public an apology for urging them, through the press, to see the match. My association has been fooled.” Budge told an interviewer that he was beaten by the better man on the day. “A man is not a machine,” he added. “He cannot be at the top all the time.” Budge told Hopman that he just could not raise the necessary effort to stall off the German's formidable challenge. LATER. The tennis officials and Budge met in conference to-day. Subsequently it was announced that Budge had expressed sincere regret for not taking the match yesterday as seriously as the occasion demanded, and that he wishes to make amends. He will play a special exhibition match against Crawford to-morrow. QUIST AND BROMWICH WIN > SYDNEY, December 28. In the tennis match between Australia and Germany, the doubles resulted: — A.
