SURF LIFE-SAVING ASSN.
CHAMPIONSHIP ARRANGEMENTS
[per press association.]
WELLINGTON, December 10
A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Surf Life-Saving Association to-night disapproved of the action of the Auckland Association in deciding to adopt the Australian rules for resuscitation drill as being contrary to the decision reached by the delegates at the annual conference, and contrary to the New Zealand handbook. The Auckland letter stated that it was proposed to give the rule a trial and to acquaint the council with the results. Members expressed the opinion that Auckland would have been better advised to await the next conference and obtain a majority decision to change the rules.
The chairman (Mr. P. F. Coira) stated that probably two Australian teams would visit New Zealand during the centennial exhibition to participate in the New Zealand championships, which would be held at Lyall Bay.
It was decided tjiat.the events in the New Zealand championships to be held at Christchurch on January 22 and 23 should be the same as last year, entries to close on January 6.
It was decided to advise the associations that the selection of the New Zealand team for Australia would not necessarily be restricted to seniors.
