Two gardeners each lost. 18.000 tomato plants put. out yesterday. Potatoes and marrows also suffered severely, and in the Taita district. alone ilte damage is estimated ar thousands of pounds. DARGAVILLE SCHOOL. DARGAVILLE, October .16. The Auckland Education Board advises that. it. has accented the tender of Air. R. Guy, of Swanston. for the erection of the Dargaville District. High School, replacing rhe building destroyed by fire in April. The new structure will be erected upon a 11-acre site, taking full advantage of fresh air and sunshine. There, will be six classrooms with a, laboratory, library, and cloakrooms. BAND CONTESTS. ASHBURTON. October 17. Five hundred men of the Main Both of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force met in Wellington yesterday, m the second triennial reunion of men who sailed from Wellington 23 years ago t<> lite day. and who were the first from the Dominion to go on active service. Honouring their fallen comrades. 4(t(i men. grouped according to the steamers in which they sailed from New Zealand, marched io the War Memorial. At their head marched Major-General Sir Andrew Russell and Colonel H. E. Avery, who were in charge of the parade.
