HOKITIKA NOTES
[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HOKITIKA. October 1. Mr Charles Morrison, of the Survey Department, Hokitika, retired on superannuation yesterday. He was met by the members of his Department, and references made to his good qualities as an oflicer. He was presented with a token of esteem by his fellow workmen. Mr Morrison has been connected with the Survey Department. in Hokitika for .33 years. He will take up his residence at Punakaiki. A large gathering assembled at Mclntosh’s club rooms last evening to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs B. Wyles. Mr Wyles, a member of the staff of •the Bank of New Zealand, is being transferred to Christchurch. Mr H. F. Cooke, manager of the Hokitika branch of the Bank of New South Wales, underwent a serious operation at Wellington yesterday. Information is to the effect that the operation was satisfactory. The annual Spring show of St. Andrew’s. Presbyterian Church was held yesterday. There were good entries, and the exhibition was up to the standard of previous shows.
