AUSTRALIAN CRICKETER

MAINTENANCE ORDER LONDON, July 1. The Australian professional cricketer. Sydney Frederick Hird, of Ramsbottom Club, Lancashire, appeared in a Lancashire Court as a result of a provisional order made in New South Wales for the maintenance of his wife and daughter. Hird gave evidence that his home bad been wrecked by the English climate, despite his efforts to make his wife comfortable in the absence of the Australian sunshine, to which she was accustomed. He said that he had lit fires each night, had bathed the child, had done the washing, and scrubbed the floors.

The Court made an order for the payment of C2/IG/- weekly.
