TROOPS DISARM PICKETS. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] NEW YORK, June 22. The steel strfike area remained quiet throughout the day. Troops disarmed the pickets at Youngstown, where they collected a wide variety of weapons, including dynamite and buckets of pepper. TJie non-strikers sent a telegram to the Governor of Ohio (Mr. Davey) protecting against the shutting of plants. \ i The Johnstown (Pennsylvania) Chamber of Commerce protested against the Governor’s use of troops as destroying Johnstown’s business. The Federal Mediation Board conferred with Mr. J.-L. Lewis, header of the Committeeo for Industrial' Organisation, and expressed the Rope that a settlement would be achieve!.

It was chiefly critical of the action of Mr. Roosevelt, Mr. Earle (Governor of Pennsylvania), and Mr. Davey. A, resolution was offered to the House of Representatives ordering the President to use Federal troops to protect workers wishing to return to work. NEWSPAPERS INVOLVED. NEW YORK, June 22. A “sit-down’’ strike of 150 mailingroom employees caused three newspapers at Pittsburg to suspend publication. The workers’ demand is for increased wages.
