WIMBLEDON RESULTS

CRAWFORD DEFEATS ANDREWS STEDMAN WINS [BY CABLE —PBESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] (Recd. June 24, Noon) LONDON,. June 23. At Wimbledon, on the outside court, Crawford met Andrews, who has the reputation of a lion-killer. Crawford in his usual unhurried style settled down to a long driving battle. The second set was a great baseline duel, interspersed with volleying. There were seven deuces in the thirteenth game. Andrews lost form in this set and Crawford took the third easily. McGrath in the early games against Coombe had pleasant practice. He slacked off .in the third set however, and Coombe took advantage of this by increasing his speed, and playing vigorously he won well and deserved his win. .

Bromwich . opened . confidently against Kirby. He won the first set by accurate driving. He slipped twice on the greasy court in the second, but increased his pace in the third and fourth sets, and forced Kirby into errors. x . Sproule had a? marathon encounter With thej- jtWeiity-oiie-year-old • South African Fannin, whose ultra steadiness won him the match. In the doubles, Crawford and McGrath, the seeded pair, went under owing to their uneven play, and the Czechs’ greater speed and accurateness. Results: —
