McLEAN CUP
UNITED DEBATING CLUB. The United Debating Club’s annual oratory competition for the McLean Cup was held last evening at Perotti Hall. The judge was Mr M. L. Daly, and the subject feet by the donor of the trophy, Mr P. J. McLean, was. “Is the intervention of Germany and Italy in Spain justifiable?” Points were awarded as follow: —Messrs D. C. Milne 90, R. R. Dawber 88, S. Quintrell 87, J. Booth 85, C. S. Shapcott. Shepherd, J. C. H. McDonald 84 H. Trouland S 3, C. C. Mosley SO, and R. The cup was presented to Mr Milne by Mr P. J. McLean, who congratulated him on his success, and also congratulated all the speakers on the high standard of the speeches. The club selected -the following team to debate next Wednesday with I St. Columba Club: Messrs Milne (lea'der), Shepherd, Shapcott and Quintrell. -
