DOG TRIALS
CHAMPIONSHIP DECIDED.
[per press association.] BLENHEIM, June 22. The South Island and New Zealand sheep dog trials were concluded this morning with the completion of the hunt-away with slew event, the first seven dogs in the South Island championship running for the second time for the New Zealand title. The results were as follow: — South Island Championship—M. A. Matheson’s Vale (Middlemarch) 58 points, 1; I. D. Anderson’s Dick (Kurow), 56* points, 2; J. Borlase’s Pat (Nelson), and C. Smith’s Stan (Oamaru), 56 points (equal) 3; C. Peterson’s Crib (Owaka), 54* points, 5; P. Newton's Joe (Otago) 54 points, 6; R. Grigg’s Scott (Blenheim), 53J points, 7. New Zealand Championship—Matheson’s Vale (55* points), aggregate for two runs, 113 J points, 1; Smith’s Stan (555 points. Ill* points) 2; Anderson’s Dick (53* points, lit) points), 3; Peterson's Crib (55 points, [lo9* points), 4; Newton’s Joe 53 | points, 107 points), 5; Borlase’s Pat. (50 points, 106* points), 6.
