The Aidershot Tattoo, which ended on Saturday, was visited by 622,000 spectators during the nine days of its presentation —135,000 more than last year, which was the previous highest attendance.
SELASSIE LIBELLED.

A libel action brought by Selassie against, the “Evening Standard” was settled in the law courts. The action concerned the Emperor’s alleged imprisonment and ill-treatment of Ras Hailu, who stated that he had been released from chains, and was a cripple when Selassie left the country. Defendants were satisfied the story was untrue * and apologised . They will pay costs. PEACE CAMPAIGN. LONDON, June 22. Mr Arthur Henderson, a member of the House of Commons, is going to Australia on July 22, as the AngloEuropean delegate to the international peace campagn conference. to be held in Melbourne from September 16 to 19. Visits will be made to all the Australian States and New Zealand, making contact with branches of the Empire Parliamentary Association.
WOOL “ALLOWANCE.” LONDON, June 22. Mr. Guthrie, interviewed by the Australian Associated Press, revealed that the combined efforts of New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, to secure the abolition of wool “draft allowances” at the International Textile Conference, proved unavailing. COOK RELIC LONDON. June 22. The cup and saucer used by Captain Cook, on his voyage in the Endeavour to Now Zealand. in 1769. were presented to Mr. Jordan by Mr. John Mercer, of East Preston, Sussex, for the National Museum.
