LAUNCH MISSING

FIVE PEOPLE ON BOARD.

[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.]

WHANGAREI, June 23.

The launch Catherine E., containing four men and one woman, which left Russell for Rawhiti, yesterday, is missing, and concern is felt for the safety of the passengers. Other launches are searching.

The launch is owned by Howie Blomfield, and on board were Ti Makariai and his two sons, and Mrs. W.hni Howe. A heavy sea was running when the launch left Russell, earlier than usual, owing to the state of the weather. The run to Rawhiti normally takes an hour and a half. It is known that the Catherine E. carried no anchor.
