[BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.]

(Recd. June 22, 11 a.m.). NOTTINGHAM, June 21. (From the Special Correspondent of the United Press Assn, with the team).

Now Zealand brilliantly compiled the biggest score of the tour against howling not greatly different from that previously experienced when only moderate totals were registered. Kerr and Page comfortably added 129 in a great stand for the second wicket. The former was run out in attempting a single, after a fine innings notable for strong off-driving. He hit eight fours and one six. Moloney safely negotiated the new ball, and brought his personal aggregate past five hundred.

Voce was unsuccessful with his usual fast bowling. He tried slow breaks and got two quick wickets. With five out for 268, Lowry thrashed the bowling, registering ten fours, two twos and one three' in his first half-century. Page, unhurried and undisturbed, made steady progress toward am ex? cellent century, his seventh in England. He batted for over four hours, revealing a variety of crisp strokes. He employed admirable discretion, his total including nine fours. LoWry and Page knocked up 107 together, of which. the former smote 84. Lowry completed a chanceless century in only 102 minutes, including IS fours and one six. It was a grand exhibition of clean hitting. Larwood was unable to bowl on account of,sore feet, but even without him, the attack was average county standard. New, Zealand’s innings last-

LONDON,

English critics agreed that the selectors have chosen a powerful all-round side, though there’ is some regret that more opportunity was not. given mising younger players. From New Zealand’s viewpoint, there is at least the advantage that the batsmen have, played all the bowlers before, so they wili know the characteristics’of the at- ;, tack. -■'. ’

Vivian has strained a leg. muscle and Wallace has split a finger. They / are receiving treatment in London in ;■ preparation for the. Test.. Although much will depend on .the condition of the wicket on the of the match, it is probable that the New Zealand team will be jthe same as that fielded against Nottinghamshire, with Wallace and Vivian, if they are fit, in place of Lowry and Weir. AUSTRALIAN WOMEN WIN. (Reod. June 22/11 a.m.) LONDON, June 21. In the cricket match against the Australian, women, the North of England, first innings, made 151.
