Kaimiro is loading timber and coal for Auckland and Portland, and is to sail to-night. Karu arrived on Saturday afternoon, and is loading timber for Petone, Wellington, HJliramar. She returns to Greymouth about July 5, to again load timber for the same ports. Poolta arrived this morning with cargo from Lyttelton. She is loading for Wellington and Miramar, and is expected to sail to-night for Westport, to completed. Karepo was expected to leave Wellington at noon to-day, for Greymbuth, and is due to-morrow evening, to load for return.
Inaha has been diverted, and will not load at Greymouth this week. It is understood that award provisions were responsible for the cancellation of the trip. Hokitika left Bruce Bay yesterday afternoon for Wellington. She is expected to leave Wellington on Thursday night, with cargo for Greymouth and Hokitika, and is due here on Saturday morning. James Cook is now due on Saturday, from Lyttelton, and after discharge of Australian hardwood, will load timber for Sydney. Waimea is to leave Lyttelton on June 28 for Wellington, Westport and Greymouth. She is due here on July 1. to load timber for Port Waikato. M ARAM A SOLD WELLINGTON, June 19. The graceful Manama, for many years a familiar ship iii ports on the New Zealand coast and in Australia, is soon to leave Wellington for tie last time. The Union Steam Ship Cc mpany announced to-day that as it Has been decided to replace the Mari na with the Maunganui in the Welkag-ton-Sonth Island-Melbourne service next season, negotiations were opened up for the disposal of the Manama, and a sale has now been completed, the buyers being the Linghua Dock and Engineering Works, Ltd., China.
WAIANA ARRIVES AT AUCKLAND
AUCKLAND, June 20
Built to replace the steamer Wingatui in the east eoast cargo trade, the Union Steam Ship Company’s hew motor-ship Waiana arrived this morning on her maiden voyage from Glasgow, under the command of Captain Howie. The Waiana’s voyage was uneventful except, that when approaching Gibraltar a Spanish aeroplane flew round the ship several times while the pilot signalled for the Waiana to hoist a flag. As soon as the Spaniards realised that she was a British ship the aeroplane flew away. After discharging 500 tons of phosphate at. Auckland the Waiana later will go to Wellington and Dunedin.
