An avalanche overwhelmed the German Mangaparhat expedition, killing seven climbers and nine Gurkha porters, but the leader. Wein, escaped. A PREVIOUS REPORT. BERLIN. June 20. By a coincidence- the "Vojkischer Beobachter" published an article dated May 20, by Martin Pfeffer a member of the expedition, announcing he had reached the main camp on the snowline at an altitude of 10,900 feet, and hoping to launch an attack on the summit within a month. He adds that Professor C. Troll of Berlin University, “whom science led elsewhere." had quiteed the expedition on Mar 17.
