HOKITIKA NOTES

[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HOKITIKA, June 21. A large number of friends attended the funeral of the late Mrs Walker yesterday afternoon. Rev. W. E. Davies conducted the funeral riles at All Saints' Church and the graveside. Miss Davies presided at the organ, two hymns being sung and a dirge f layed. A large number of wreaths were sent by sympathising friend.-.’. The members of the family of Mr and Mrs Robert Ross, of Gibson Quay had' a home-coining on Saturday, th.* occasion being the 80th birthday oi Mr Ross. Congratulations were received from many friends, including the Hokitika Municipal Band, of which Mr Ross was a member many years ago. Mr Ross is still halt* and hearty, and works at his trade—that oi a joiner. Some forty young men have handed in their names for -the flying school, which is to be established on the West Coast.
