A Hokitika Press Association telegram announced the death of Catherine Beanfill, aged one .hundred years.

Messrs Russell (Christchurch), Harrison and Tunna (Auckland), of the London and Lancashire Insurance Co., who have been visiting the Glaciers, will leave to-morrow, for Westport.

A Geneva cablegram stated that Hon. 11. T. Armstrong (New Zealand) has been elected president of the Independent Labour Office Conference’s Committee, on the forty hour week for textile employees.

The death occurred at Sydney, New South Wales, on Sunday evening, of Mr. Arthur Barlow, brother of Mr. Walter Barlow, of Cobden. The late Mr. Barlow and Mr. W. Barlow came to the West Coast, from Australia, in 1906 and deceased remained here until 1914 when he returned to Australia. spending about six years in Queensland before taking up residence in Sydney. He was known on the West Coast as a cricketer, playing in Reefton and Waiuta, and representing the West Coast against the M.C.C. team, in; Greymouth, in 1907. Deceased was 61 years of age and single. Besides Mr. W. Barlow, he leaves another brother, in Kalgoorlie and three sisters, two in New South Wales and one in Auckland.
