AICKENS NOTES
[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
An enjoyable social evening was given by the Aicken family in honour of their mother’s 80th birthday, at, the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. Evans, Aickens, on Wednesday evening last, Mrs. Aicken being the oldest resident of the Christchurch Road. A large number of relatives and friends came from far and near for the occasion. Dancing and games were indulged in, and speeches were made by Misses Fitzgerald and Campbell and Mr. H. Jackson, Mr. J. Aicken returning thanks. Music was supplied by Youngman Bros, and Miss Paget. Songs were given by Mr. E. Williams. Mr. J. Graham (ventriloquist) gave an amusing performance. Those present were Mesdames Jackson (3), Campbell, Griffen, Harris, Youngman, Webber, Messenger, Aicken, Kennedy and Evans. Misses Fitzgerald, Campbell, Paget, Youngman, Wilson, Power, and Evans. Messrs. Fitzsimmons, Graham, Williams, Spence, Youngman (3), Jackson (3), Evans and Aicken. Masters Powbr, and Evans (2), master R. and Miss E. Messenger (great grandchildren) were also present.
