GREY TROTTING CLUB
MEETING OF COMMITTEE
A meeting of the Committee of the Greymouth Trotting Club was held last evening, Mr. H. W. Kitchingham presiding over an attendance of the following members: Messrs. T. A. W. Tate, A. M. Carroll, T. E. Coates, C. L. Kettle, T. Oxenham, W. Meldrum, F. W. Shallcrass, E. McDonnell, R. Reid, P. C. Heaphy and the secretary, Mr. W. E. Pring. The President reported that the following dates had been submitted to the Conference for the coming season: Spring meeting, Saturday, October 23, and Monday, October 25, 1937; Summer meeting, Wednesday, January 5, and Thursday, January 6, 1938. it was decided that the five retiring members of the New Zealand Association be re-nominated. It was unanimously decided that. Mr. H. F. Nicoll be elected an honorary life member of the Club, in recognition of his valuable work in connection with the sport.
Mr. Kettle was appointed delegate to the New Zealand Conference.
A letter from the Owners’ and Breeders’ Association, Westport, suggesting local races, was discussed, and it was decided to notify them that the Committee regretted being 'unable to accede to their request. A letter from the Canterbury Owners’ and Breeders’ Association was received in regard to the system of betting to be adopted by the Club, and it was decided that they be advised that the win and place system will, in future, be used. The President 'advised that the R.S.A. had applied for the use of the Club’s ballroom. The secretary was instructed to advise them that the charge would be £3/3/-, plus lighting.
