£770 FOR INJURIES LONDON, March IS. Eileen Gertrude Chalk, 19, of Arun-del-road, Brighton, was awarded £750 damages and £2O special damages, with costs, at. the Sussex Assizes at. Lewes yesterday for injuries received in a motor accident. When the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Dewart, was told that. Miss Chalk had difficulty in shaking hands because of her injuries, be remarked: “When she is a candidate for Parliament, that may be a serious matter.” Mr. J. D. Cassels, K.C., for the defendant: It may lose her a lot. of votes, but. she can still kiss the babies. It was stated that the accident occurred when Miss Chalk was being taken home from a. dance in a motorcar driven by the defendant. .Mr. Richard Alan Couchman. of St. Auhynsmansions, Hove. She was now unable to play tennis, play the piano or type properly.
