' While three single-seater Air Force fighters were flying in formation, the Hampshire machine slightly above the others suddenly nose-dived, colliding with the others. , ' ' All the planes were shattered, the debris being spread over half a mile. Two of the pilots escaped by means of parachutes. The third was trapped in the cockpit and killed. The Air Force death roll for 1937, is now forty-one. ' .. . \- BROOK AND BROADBENT. May 1, 11.45 a.m.). PARIS, April 30. Twenty-two planes have now entered for the trans-Atlantic race. Italy has five entries, ana the United States three. / The American demand for the abandonment or postponement of the competition will be considered after the closing of the entries on May 2.
