CARRIAGE “TOO LONELY”
PRIVILEGE REFUSED.
ADELAIDE. April 21.
The Acting Premier of Western Australia (Mr. Troy) declined to travel in a special carriage provided for him by the Commonwealth Railways for a journey to Kalgoorlie. When shown to the special car, Mr. Troy said that he was prepared to travel in a first-class car with the rest ol the passengers. While ii. was thoughtful of the Commonwealth authorities to provide the special car, he did not. consider it. worth while to run it to Kalgoorlie for the use of one man, and then back again empty. If he had been travelling with a party, he. would have considered using the carriage. "1 would lie far too lonely all by myself in a. big carriage,” he said. Mr. Troy, however, will travel from Kalgoorlie to Perth in a specail coach which was left in the Kalgoorlie railway yards after it. brought Mr. Trov, the Minister for Works (Mr. Millington), and several departmental officers to Kalgoorlie on their way to Melbourne to attend the Loan Conference.
