The political correspondent of the “Daily Mail” says a special allowance of at least £6OOO a year for Princess Elizabeth until she comes of age, and an increased allowance for the Duke of Gloucester (who is receiving £25,000 a year), In recognition of the extra duties he has to perform in the absence of a Prince of Wales, are among the . recommendations of the Select Committee on the new civil list. The report of the committee is now completed. Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary will each receive allowances of £70,000 a year. Other recommendations follow closely the provisions made for the Royal Family in the reign of King George V. The report contains no references to any allowance for the Duke of Windsor.
