CIVIL LIST PROPOSALS [BY CABLE —PBESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] LONDON, April 29. The political correspondent of the “Daily Mail” says a special allowance of at least £6OOO a year for Princess Elizabeth until she comes of age, and an increased allowance for the Duke of Gloucester (who is receiving £25,000 a year), In recognition of the extra duties he has to perform in the absence of a Prince of Wales, are among the . recommendations of the Select Committee on the new civil list. The report of the committee is now completed. Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary will each receive allowances of £70,000 a year. Other recommendations follow closely the provisions made for the Royal Family in the reign of King George V. The report contains no references to any allowance for the Duke of Windsor.
OPERA PATRONS
LONDON, April 29.
Envisaging enormous traffic difficulties on Coronation Night and the impossibility of patrons getting home to change, the Covent Garden authorities have waived their hitherto rigid rule of evening dress for the opera on that night.
QUEEN MARY’S PASSENGERS
LONDON, April 29
The Government, in order to accelerate the landing of passengers from the Queen Mary, due two days before the Coronation, have introduced an innovation, providing for the examination of passports of the two thousand passengers during the voyage from America, instead of at Southampton.

A special mission from Nepal went to Buckingham Palace, and Sir Kaiser Shumshere Jung Bahadur Tiana, leader of the mission presented to the King, the insignia of the Order of Rajnuya, the highest Nepalese Order, instituted for presentation to Royalty only.
