INTRUDER ARRESTED
A GENERAL CONFERENCE.

AUCKLAND, April 28. Four dwellings in the Epsom district were entered last night, and from two bedrooms purses containing small sums of money were stolen. Mr John Rayner, a resident ol Owen’s Road, heard a movement upstairs. On entering a bedroom he saw a man examining the dressing table with a torch and caught him by the coat. Mr Rayner took the man downstairs, where he had a guest. On the intruder were found two purses, the name in one being that of Mr A. Leese, clerk or the One Tree Hill Borough Council, who in a Justice of the Peace. Mr Leese was summoned by telephone. A conference took place oyer supper, in which the burglar participated. He made a strong plea to be allowed to go as he said his arrest would break his mother’s heart. He promised to return to Taranaki the next d'ay. However, the decision of the conference was that the man should be arrested. The police were summoned.
