JAPANESE CONTROL. ■ (Recd. April 29, 1.30 p.m.) TOKIO, April 28. The successful conclusion of experiments of manufacturing petrol from crude oil by a process of hydrogenation are announced. It is claimed that Japan will be able to produce sufficient aviation petrol hereby, for i needs of peace time and war time. I Japan is organising a juvenile air corps, for which youths aged 14 to 24 are eligible. It is hoped that the corps will number 6,000,000. It is anticipated that a hundred gliders manned by I juveniles will participate at the Olympiad. N.Z. AIR PILOTS’ GUILD. BLENHEIM, April 28. Twenty-five professional pilots were represented at the meeting, in person or by proxy. The master, Squadron Leader G. L. Stedman, presided. The half-yearly Council meeting followed. Flying Officer S. L. Gilkison, of the Western Federated Aero Club, was appointed to fill the vacancy as , an associate member in place of Fly-, ing Officer C. M. Duthie, who has ’ qualified for full membership of the guild. Mr J. M. Buckeridgc resigned . because of his appointment as Assist-1 ' ant-Con(roller of Civil Aviation.It was decided to recommend to the 1 Air Board that in cases of inquiries into ■air accidents and other matters 5 of civil aviation a nominee of the guild I be appointed as one of the members of* - the board of inquiry, in accordance c with the English practice, to avoid - speculative reports on certain air ac--3 cidents necessitating official inquiry, j It was decided that the press be ;- asked not to publish any suggested I cause until an official explanation has been issued by the board of inquiry.
