Mrs. A. Cates, who has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. A. M, Jamieson, Shakespeare Street, left to-day, on return to Ashburton.

Mr. T. B. Gusscott, director and general manager, J. R. McKenzie Ltd., will arrive in Greymouth this afternoon, on a short visit.

The directors of the United Press Association yesterday decided to appoint Mr. T. M. Hinkley, at present manager of the Sydney branch, to the position of manager of the head office in New Zealand. Mr. A. R. Cameron, of the head office, has been appointed to succeed Mr. Hinkley in Sydney.

A London cablegram announced the death of Hon. F. E. Guest, M.P. for the Drake Division of Plymouth. He was born in 1875. He served in several wars, and was Air Secretary in 1921-22.

An estate of £38,000, that of tire late Edward Morton, retired mer ; chant, Auckland, is included in the April probates and letters of administra,tion. The late Mary Elizabeth Gage-Brown, who died on April 6, as the result of injuries caused when attacked in her home, left an estate of £6OOO. —Press Assn.

The wedding was celebrated in Christchurch yesterday of Mr. Frank , Alack, guide in the Southern Alps, to Miss Dora Amelita Deal, second daughter of the late Mr, Deal and of Mrs. G. W. Deal, Fendaltqn road. For her. wedding she wore a brown suit and a rust-red hat. Both the bride and bridegroom were unattended. During their wedding tour, the bridegroom hopes to take his bride from the Hermitage, Mount Cook, over the Copeland Pass, into Westland.

The death, occurred at his residence, Blaketown, early last evening, of Mr Tewhere-raki Meihana (known generally as Luggi Mason). A native of Arthurstown, Hokitika, where he was born 63 years ago, deceased was a son of the late Harry Mason, and 1 was one of the-oldest Maori Residents of the West Coast. In his youth, he was a well-known footballer and: hammer thrower. He had; resided' in l the Grey a lengthy period, and for the past twenty-three years at Blak'etmvh, having been a member of the Waterside Workers’ Union until illhealth compelled his retirement. As a member- of the Maori Contingent, he journeyed to England for the Coronation of the late King George V. He is survived by his wife, a member of the Tuhuru family, and; one son, Mr Michael Mason, of Greymouth. Another son, John, died in February, 1935. He also leaves one brother, Mr Opene Meihana, Arahura, and one sister, Mrs F. Parker (Hokitika). The funeral will take place at .Karoro Cemetery to-morrow, leaving deceased’s late residence at 2 p.m.
