A more encouraging report on the infantile paralysis position in Canterbury and Westland was given to-day by the Assistant-Medical Officer of Health for the district, Dr. J. Boyd. Only two notifications were reported j to. Dr. Boyd yesterday, and neither j has yet been diagnosed as positive. (The suspected cases are a boy of three I years in the Kaikoura district, and a boy of three years from Spreydon. A class at the Marist Brothers’ School. Christchurch, has been closed owing to one of the pupils having contracted* the disease. WELLINGTON WELLINGTON, April 29. A boy aged 21, a positive case, was admitted to the hospital, from Kent Terrace. AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, April 28. There are now 10 positive cases of infantile, paralysis in the Auckland Hospital. Seven suspected cases have been admitted to hospital, and it is expected that three of these will prove icsitive. A further positive case was notified to the Health Department to-day. The patient is a girl aged 31 from Te Arai, near Mangawai. PAHIATUA. PAHIATUA, April 2<). A girl aged nine, residing at Mau ? gatainoka on the. outskirts of Pahiatua, was taken to the Masterton I-Ios ; pital last night, suffering from infantile paralysis. This is the first case in Pahiatua since the present outbreak, The child, stated a doctor, has definite affection in Ihe legs.
